Welcome
Urban Chic Interior Design
Once upon a time, you could only have one kind of interior design: either painted or unpainted cave walls, period. From the first house type structure that Man built to protect the family from the elements and the creatures that go chomp in the night, there has been a never ending evolution of interior design styles. As one design period ends, a new one will come in, sometimes completely different from the first and sometimes borrowing examples and elements from it. Eventually, every part of a design will come back in some form or another- as designers draw from their favorite time periods and favorite designers for the inspiration for their own collections.
So, if you are thinking that there is never going to be nothing new in the world of interior design, you might have a point, but while all the elements are recycled, the effect is new and fresh every time. And, steering away from certain types of interior design may keep the battle for the house to a minimum. Imagine that you and your spouse are in your newly purchased, bare bones home and are discussing design possibilities. You want French provincial, he wants English country, so you blend the two elements and live all your days happy as larks in your frilly, frou-frou home. But, what if you want heavy, ponderous Gothic and he wants simple, clean lines of minimalist design. How do you find a middle ground between those two design theories?
Urban chic interior design might be the solution to your dilemma and may be a wonderful choice especially for some of the modern, newly built homes that are all so cookie cutter identical and sterile. Featuring cleaner, starker lines and edgier details, urban chic can work even in the ‘burbs, where they are all practically dying for a for a little zip of flavor in their way too vanilla lives.
Of course, modern homes are not the only ones that would benefit form urban chic interior design- older homes and manors could really be stunning with this design style playing against the older lines and windows that the home boasts. People will come to your door expecting English manor or even American cottage and they will get blown away completely by your stunning juxtaposition of the design style for the interior and exterior. They will probably rush home to do the same to their own!
